Wisteria macrostachya
'This is a native variety of Wisteria, (a.k.a. Kentucky Wisteria), that develops very fragrant, showy, 6-12-inch long racemes of pea-like white to blue-lavender flowers that may repeat bloom once established in the garden. Grow on very sturdy support structures, arbors, railings, in large containers, or on other tree trunks surrounded by shrub roses, daisies and other cottage garden perennials. This wisteria is not as aggressive as Asian types, but still requires regular training and pruning. Prefers well-drained, moist, slightly acidic soil, but tolerates drought and possesses good deer resistance.
