Meadow Anemone, Windlower, or Canada Anemone is a rhizomatous native perennial that occurs in moist to wet areas with rich humus soils. Best in part shade but tolerates sun in cool summer climates. Foliage is green and in basal clumps. White buttercup flowers with yellow stamens appear on stalks above foliage in spring, oftem producing a stunning display. Can spread aggressively in ideal conditions, otherwise makes a good groundcover. Best if sheltered from strong winds to avoid breaking flower stalks.
