Magnolia 'Ann' 10 Gallon

Magnolia 'Ann' 10 Gallon

Magnolia 'Ann'

Magnolia is a popular family of spring-flowering plants grown as tall shrubs or medium sized trees. They display showy, fragrant flowers and deciduous, glossy foliage, and they're outstanding in the landscape as a decorative accent or specimen plant tolerating clay soil. 'Ann' is one of the "Little Girl Hybrids", displaying breath-taking, 4 inch wide, tulip-shaped blooms with a deep rose exterior and a white interior in mid spring. The richly colored blossoms have the benefit of blooming 2-4 weeks later than Star and Saucer Magnolias, better avoiding frost damage, and they may also sporadically bloom again in summer. Plant in well-drained to moist, acidic, amended soil. Water well after planting; maintain 1 inch of water once a week the first year. Prune in spring immediately after flowering to control size, and remove stray shoots or damaged limbs anytime. Feed early spring and mid-summer with a slow release fertilizer. Follow label instructions. Mulch 2 inches to suppress weeds, retain moisture and protect against extremes of soil temperature.
