A must-have beauty in the shade garden! Provides gorgeous cut flowers that can be floated in clear bowls of water for an elegant centerpiece! Hellebores form low mounds of leathery, dark, evergreen foliage from which large, single to double, nodding, cup-shaped flowers bloom early spring, around the time of Lent. Part of the Helleborus Gold Collection® (HGC), Ice N' Roses® Brunello displays dusky red-purple blooms. The blooms stay upright and gradually fade, providing a long season of blooming interest from early spring well into June and even July. Use in the woodland garden as excellent deer resistant color and texture. Plant in well-drained, nutrient rich soil amended with organic matter like Petitti Planting Mix. Water well after planting; maintain 1" of water, once a week the first year. Use Plant-tone and Iron-tone in spring or at planting; apply Osmocote in summer. Remove dead, dry foliage/flowers as needed. Mulch 1-2" to suppress weeds and retain soil moisture. Divide in fall when necessary.
