The best and hardiest cranesbill to date; voted Perennial Plant of the Year 2008. Large, 2.5", electric violet-blue blooms cover low mounds of vigorous, cut-leaf foliage growing best in part shade and flowering non-stop from May to frost. Fall foliage is a pleasing bronze to burgundy red. Plant with Iris, coneflowers, Heliopsis, daylilies, daisies and grasses. Plant in a moist but well-drained, nutrient rich soil amended with organic matter like compost and planting mix. Water well after planting; maintain 1" of water, once a week the first year. Use slow release fertilizer in spring or at planting; reapply midsummer. Mulch 1-2" to suppress weeds and retain soil moisture.
