Astilbe 'Vision in Red' 2 Gallon

Astilbe chinensis
This variety produces dark purple-red flowers in thick panicles late spring to early summer atop branching stems. The dense, upright form works great in a dappled shade border, a woodland garden, and also as groundcover. Chinese Astilbe varieties tolerate drought better than most other Astilbes, though they still do best in uniformly moist soil. A great choice for any gardener wanting to achieve color and texture in shady areas where other flowers won't thrive. Pairs well with Hydrangea macrophylla, Rhododendron, Hosta, and coral bells. Plant in well-drained to moist, nutrient-rich soil amended with organic matter like Petitti Planting Mix. Water well after planting; maintain 1 inch of water, once a week, for the first year. Fertilize in early spring and mid-summer with a multipurpose fertilizer. Mulch 1-2 inches to suppress weeds. Divide in spring every 3-4 years.
