Baby?s breath is a vigorous, cutting garden staple. It's an excellent choice for rock gardens, cascaading over walls, as edging, as a groundcover in small areas, and in mixed containers. An excellent ?filler? in flower arrangements, and makes a good dried flower. 'Filou Rose' is a dwarf cousin to the more familiar, taller varieties of Baby's Breath. It forms a low mat of blue-green leaves that bear masses of small, starry, light pink, single flowers in early summer that are also fragrant. Plant in well-drained, alkaline, low-nutrient soil amended with organic matter. Water well after planting; maintain 1" of water, once a week, for the first year. Fertilize in spring according to package instructions. Mulch 1-2" to suppress weeds and retain soil moisture. Divide in spring and summer, if/when necessary. Clip plants lightly after blooming to encourage re-bloom.
