Zebra Grass 'Zebrinus' 3 Gallon

Zebra Grass 'Zebrinus' 3 Gallon

Miscanthus sinensis

One of the most popular ornamental grass families, Japanese Silver Grass, or Maiden Grass, is identified by its whisk-like inflorescence produced late summer to late fall. Clumps form dense habits that make for an excellent garden specimen, hedge, and for cut or dried flower arrangements. 'Zebrina' Zebra Grass is a large, clump forming ornamental grass with a tall, upright, slightly arching habit, and bright green foliage with distinctive yellow to golden, horizontal banding. Tiny copper-pink tassel-like plumes appear above the foliage in late summer, gradually turning silvery white in fall. Ornamental grasses are best used as deer and rabbit resistant screens or specimens, in mixed shrub borders, or as a back drop for colorful perennials such as coneflowers, Nepeta, and Sedum. It provides excellent winter interest. Plant in well-drained, average to poor soil. Water well after planting; maintain 1" of water, once a week the first year. Use slow release fertilizer in spring or at planting. Mulch 1-2" to suppress weeds and retain soil moisture. In general, cut ornamental grasses down as low as possible in late winter. Divide in spring when necessary.
