A heavy blooming, darker, dwarf weigela variety for the front of the border or for edging the perennial garden with fantastic cold hardiness. This tidy mound of dark, black-purple foliage is topped by abundant, rose-pink, tubular flowers in spring that hummingbird love. Weigelas are easy, perfect performers for sunny small spaces, in containers, as low hedges, mixed borders, or foundation plantings. They provide three seasons of color and possess good deer resistance planted along with Junipers, ornamental grasses, and deciduous Holly. Plant in well-drained to moist, amended soil. Water well after planting; maintain 1" of water once a week the first year. Prune to remove winter dieback in spring; do all other pruning immediately after flowering. Feed at least twice during the growing season with a slow release fertilizer in early spring and again mid-summer. Follow label instructions. Mulch 2" to suppress weeds, retain moisture and protect against extremes of soil temperature. A Proven Winners® variety.
