Weigela florida An ideal, colorful, dwarf shrub for the front of the border or for edging the perennial bed. This tidy mound of deep maroon leaves can be used as an accent plant or a dramatic mass planting. Leaves emerge almost black, then turn maroon into summer. Olive green patches may appear, but leaves will remianmostly black. Light pink flowers stand out strongly in spring. It is maintenance free and needs no pruning because its habit is perfect the way it is. Good for mixed borders or foundation plantings. Deer resistant. Season-long color.
