Modern varieties are vigorous, and they offer excellent resistance to powdery mildew, not to mention self-cleaning abilities. The Superbena® series by Proven Winners® is particularly vigorous, heat tolerant, and mildew resistant. These annuals thrive in the toughest summer heat. They're also excellent for attracting butterflies and hummingbirds, and they possess good deer resistance.
