Aka Mother of thousands, this fun, low maintenance houseplant produces hairy, dark green, round, scalloped edged foliage with silver veins and red undersides similar to a Rex Begonia. It also produces tiny plantlets on trailing (stolons) stems like a strawberry that can be propagated, hence its common name. Display them indoors in hanging baskets, trailing from shelves and plant stands, or planted around the base of taller Ficus plants. It can also be grown outdoors in shady container gardens during the summer. Insignificant airy panicles of white flowers can develop in spring. Grow in bright indirect light indoors or shady areas outdoors. They prefer well-drained soil with average moisture to slightly dry. Average household temperatures are best. Feed regularly with a slow release, multipurpose fertilizer April to September. Follow label instructions.
