Oxydendrum arboreum Requires acidic, moist but well drained, rich soil, similar to azaleas and rhododendrons. Green leaves turn brilliant red in the fall. White lily-of-the-valley type flowers in summer emerge on 4-8" panicles in June or July. Panicles persist after the flowers end, and contrast strongly with the brillian red fall color.
