This native hydrangea family is known for its reliable blooming ability, adaptability, and cold hardiness, making it one of the easiest and low maintenance flowering plants in the landscape. Invincibelle Sublime™ ushers in a new day for full-sized smooth hydrangeas, with cloud-like mophead flowers floating above the plant on super-sturdy stems. Each floret of the big, fluffy blooms is a deeply saturated tourmaline-green that looks refreshing and intriguing in the garden all summer long. Very dark green foliage sets off the lively green of the blooms. Makes a fantastic cut flower, both fresh and dried, if you can bring yourself to remove them from the fabulous plant. It blooms nonstop in waves from midsummer to frost. Plant as a specimen, in a mixed border, as foundation plants, or in a fresh or dried cut flower garden. Sun tolerant if kept moist. Plant in well-drained to moist, amended soil. Water well after planting; maintain 1" of water once a week the first year. Cut back the entire shrub down to 6-18" in late winter or early spring. No staking is required if planted close together (3' apart) to support each other. Deadhead flowers anytime for repeat blooming. Feed early spring and mid-summer with a slow release fertilizer. Follow label instructions. Mulch 2" to suppress weeds, retain moisture and protect against extremes of soil temperature. A Proven Winners® variety.
