A shapely, rounded, small tree or large shrub with unique eucalyptus-like, blue-green to burgundy-red foliage that turns golden orange to deep red in the fall. 'Dusky Maiden' is a bushier, well-branched variety that resists getting leggy and stays more compact. Cloud-like panicles of pink-burgundy, summer flowers look like puffs of smoke. This beautiful specimen can be trained into a tree form or used as a colorful backdrop for perennials, is deer resistant, and clay soil and drought tolerant once established. Combine with golden barberry and blue junipers for a colorful, three to four seasons trio.
