Sandbar Willow is a common native shrub in the Northern Great Plans and Northeast US, including Ohio. It has narrow bamboo-like foliage and spreads from root suckers to form large colonies, especially in wet areas. It is excellent for erosion control on streambanks , lakeshores and sandbars. It may become weedy unless managed.
