Compact cultivar. Upright spreading suckering shrub, native to most of North America. Less agressive spreader than C. sericea. Stems are yellow with red twigs. Remove ¼ to ⅓ of the oldest stems in late winter to encourage new stems with the best color. Leaves turn golden yellow in fall. Tiny fragrant white flowers appear in flat clusters in summer, followed by dark purple fruit. Adaptable to many conditions but prefers moist soil. Proven Winners® variety.
