Cornus sericea 'Baileyi'

Upright spreading shrub, native to most of North America. Does not spread by stolons like the species. Stems turn red orange fading to purple in autumn and then bright red in winter. Remove ¼ to ⅓ of the oldest stems in late winter to encourage new stems with the best color. Tiny fragrant white flowers appear in flat clusters in summer, followed by whiteish fruit. Adaptable to many conditions but prefers moist soil.
