Queen of the Prairie is a tall, upright, clump-forming perennial native to swamps and wet meadows throughout the eastern U.S., including Ohio. It spreads easily by seed, and can form large thickets under ideal conditions. Leaves are fragrant when crushed, reminiscent of wintergreen. Pink feathery flowers appear in early to mid summer. 'Venusta' has light pink flowers and is a bit shorter than the species.
