Purple Passionflower 'Ammon's Blue' 3 Gallon

Purple Passionflower 'Ammon's Blue' 3 Gallon

Passiflora incarnata

A rapid-growing vine that climbs by tendrils, woody in its southern range but dying to the ground in winter in the northern range. Green leaves have three lobes, and turn yellow in fall. Fragrant flowers appear in summer, followed by fleshy egg shaped fruits caled maypops. Ripe maypops may be eaten fresh or turned into jelly. 'Ammon's Blue' was selected from a native population by plantsman Dewey Hollister of Cincinnati, Ohio and named for his daughter. The large flowers have fringed filaments that are purplish-blue held over a background of soft white petals.
