Ptilotus 'Matilda' 8 Inch

Ptilotus 'Matilda' 8 Inch

Ptilotus exaltatus 'Matilda'
Also known by the common name Mulla Mulla, this Australian native delivers unique form and texture with its feathery, silvery rose flower spires that measure 3 to 6 inches in length. The bottlebrush blooms emerge a glistening silver, then gradually darken to neon pink at the tips. The interesting, bristly blooms are particularly eye-catching when sunlight filters through them, perched atop study stems of leathery, grey-green foliage. Because the species is native to the hot, dry plains of Australia, 'Matilda' performs best in full sun and tolerates hot, dry sites and conditions. It's outstanding when used in mixed containers and as an accent in garden beds. It attracts both bees and butterflies, and it produces long-lasting cut flowers, as well.
