Pear 'Red d' Anjou' 5 Gallon

Pyrus communis 'Red d' Anjou'
A sport of the green Anjou pear, but with red skin and a mild flavor that ripens in early October. Plant with 'Bartlett' as a pollinator within 50 feet. Plant in well-drained, nutrient rich, amended soil. Water well after planting; maintain 1"" of water once a week for the first year. Prune in late winter to control size and form or after flowering. Remove dead or damaged stems at any time. Feed at least twice during the growing season with a slow release fertilizer in early spring and again mid-summer. Follow label instructions. Mulch 2" to supress weeds, retain moisture and protect against extremes of soil temperature. A regular spraying schedule to redce insects and disease is also recommended.
