This pretty ornamental tree blooms with clusters of dark pink, ruffled flowers in the spring followed by burgundy foliage with unique wavy edges. Its compact size makes it an eye-catching selection for patio containers or as a focal point in the landscape. Developed by the JC Raulston Arboretum at NC State University. Plant in average to moist, well-drained soils. Water well after planting; maintain 1 inch of water once a week the first year. Prune in late winter to early spring as needed. Fertilize in early spring and mid-summer with a multipurpose slow release fertilizer. Follow label instructions. Mulch 2 inches to suppress weeds, retain moisture and protect.
