Small size and slow growth makes this Asian species an excellent accent, specimen, or street tree with an upright, oval form. Its showy copper to cinnamon peeling bark contrasts with inner tan bark providing fantastic year-round interest. Silvery green trifoliate leaves mature late fall to a showy orange-red-burgundy color that persists into winter. Attractive to both pollinators (moths) and songbirds, preferring moist soils and does not like drought. Combine with azaleas, Hostas, and ferns.
