Earliest blooming panicle hydrangea, starts in June along with mop-head types, but continues late into the summer turning from white to deep rose. Blooms every year without fail. Possesses excellent winter hardiness. Soil pH does not affect bloom color. An outstanding specimen plant, especially in the cutting garden. Puffer Fish® is like a larger, more puffed-up version of Bobo, with pure white flowers that turn lime green. As a surprise, a fresh sprig of white flowers emerges form the tip of the bloom. A Proven Winners® variety. Plant in well-drained to moist, amended soil. Water well after planting; maintain 1" of water once a week, for the first year. Prune in late winter to early spring to control size and form, down to a 10-12" ball. Deadhead flowers anytime for repeat blooming. Reduce stems for larger flowers, keep more stems for small flowers. Feed early spring and mid-summer with a slow-release fertilizer per label instructions. Mulch 2" to suppress weeds, retain moisture and protect against extremes of soil temperature.
