This panicle hydrangea family is well known for awesome blooming ability, adaptability, and cold hardiness, making it one of the easiest and most low maintenance flowering shrubs in the landscape. These deciduous plants put on a stunning display of flower clusters midsummer to autumn on new wood every year. Panicle hydrangea are also the most sun and drought tolerant of all hydrangeas, and they provide delightful color to the landscape when other plants are in decline, especially as fall and winter interest. Fire Light Tidbit® is the tiniest, tidiest panicle hydrangea yet! And it still packs a ton of beauty into its small size, featuring big, lush panicles of white mophead flowers that appear in early to mid summer, nearly obscuring the textured green foliage of the plant, and then progressing to bright pink and red tones. Plant in well-drained to moist, amended soil. Water well after planting; maintain 1" of water, once per week, for the first year. Prune in late winter to early spring to control size and form, down to a 10-12? ball. Feed early spring and mid-summer with a slow release fertilizer per label instructions. Mulch 2" to suppress weeds, retain moisture, and to protect against extremes of soil temperature.
