The popular Impatiens family offers easy-growing annuals for shady spots that also serve as wonderful butterfly attractants. Their well-branched, bushy habits are capable of filling hanging baskets, front borders, and container gardens quickly. New Guinea Impatiens produce showy blooms, and the 'Roller Coaster' series is particularly special because it displays gorgeous, extra-large, ruffled flowers. Grow in part shade to shady areas in well-drained, moist, rich soil or containers. Feed with a slow release fertilizer, per package instructions. Deadhead and trim as needed to encourage more blooms and tidy habit. Mulch 2" to suppress weeds, retain moisture, and protect against extremes of soil temperature.
