Rosa spp. This item has been pruned into a small tree form. Miniature Roses are cold hardy, petite shrubs that produce clusters of miniature blooms in an assortment of colors. Sunblaze? is a popular series in this family, known for being easy to grow, compact, and for the ability to bloom spring until fall over glossy, disease-resistant, and heat-resistant foliage. These plants perform well when used as a front border and are spectacular in containers. Sunblaze® Autumn produces orange-red roses on very tiny rose shrubs. Plant in well-drained, amended soil at least 2-3 feet apart. Water well after planting, and maintain 1" of water, once per week, for the first year. Prune down to 6-12" in height in spring after the last frost. Feed at least three times (when fully leafed out, after the first bloom, and again in August) during the growing season with a slow-release fertilizer per label instructions. Mulch 2" to suppress weeds, retain moisture, and protect against the extremes of soil temperature. Deadhead and clean around the base of the plant as much as possible. Keep an insect and disease control geared for roses on hand. Wrap in burlap or spray with an anti-desiccant to protect from winter die-back, and mulch the base 4-6" in late November. Container plants can be stores in the cold garage over winter, just be sure to water lightly once per month.
