Lewis's Mockorange is native to the Pacific Northwest where it grows on rocky slopes in open or mixed woodland. It is the state flower of Idaho. It is a dense, rounded, multi-stemmed suckering shrub that grows in average well-drained soils and has has fragrant white flowers in May or June. 'Snow Velvet' ihas semi-double white flowers is more compact.
