Japanese Beech Fern 1 Gallon

This subtle, but handsome fern has a low, mounding habit with medium to deep green, rough textured fronds. Performs well in deep shade and moist to wet soil. Place in a container or grow in the shade garden with Hosta, bleeding heart and Astilbe. Plant in evenly moist to wet, nutrient rich soil amended with organic matter like compost and planting mix. Water well after planting; maintain 1" of water, once a week the first year. Use slow release fertilizer in spring or at planting; reapply midsummer. Mulch 1-2" to suppress weeds and retain soil moisture. Excellent shade garden color and texture, deer and rabbit resistance.
