The Hybrid Teas are the largest class of roses and the most popular. These are your classic, tall, upright rose shrubs that produce large, gorgeous, fragrant rose blossoms, each on a long, straight stem for cutting. A wide assortment of colors, fragrances, and number petals are available. Use in the garden as a specimen rose, border accent or in a cutting garden. Sunbelt® Savannah displays numerous, petal-rich, very double blooms of pink on compact plants that are very hardy and resistant to disease. Plant in well-drained, amended soil at least 2-3 feet apart. Water well after planting, and maintain 1" of water, once per week, for the first year. Prune down to 6-12" in height in spring after the last frost. Feed at least three times (when fully leafed out, after the first bloom, and again in August) during the growing season with a slow-release fertilizer per label instructions. Mulch 2" to suppress weeds, retain moisture, and protect against the extremes of soil temperature. Deadhead and clean around the base of the plant as much as possible. Keep an insect and disease control geared for roses on hand. Wrap in burlap or spray with an anti-desiccant to protect from winter die-back, and mulch the base 4-6" in late November to protect the graft/bud union.
