Hoya Heart is given its name due to the visual nature of its heart-shaped leaves. When a single leaf is cut, partially rooted, and potted up, this becomes the adorable Hoya Heart houseplant you may have seen all over social media in recent years. Like other species of Hoya, sometimes referred to as Wax Plant, it is an exotic indoor plant that's also very easy to grow. It is a slow-growing vine featuring thick, waxy leaves, and it also blooms with clusters of star-shaped, waxy flowers. While it is commonly displayed in the home in hanging basket form, the plant's stems will also gently trail from containers, and an upright trellis may be placed in containers to help it grow vertically. While Hoya plants can grow in low, medium, and bright light conditions, they will produce more flowers in brighter situations. Water only when the potting mix dries out, and be careful to avoid overwatering, like with most houseplants. Fertilize during the active growing season as direct on your selected all-purpose indoor plant food packaging.
