Hot Pepper 'Jalapeño' 3.5"

Hot Pepper 'Jalapeño' 3.5"

Capsicum annuum

This is the classic jalapeno pepper grown worldwide for it's popular, spicy flavor and mild to medium heat level (2,500-8,000 SHU). Each plant should produce 30-40, 3-inch long, glossy, bright to dark green peppers that will eventually turn red with a sweeter, spicy flavor. Jalapeno peppers are great for stuffing, roasting, pickling, and a vital ingredient of many hot sauces and salsas. Peppers are a great companion to tomatoes, basil, spinach, onion, and carrots. Maturity: 75 days. On a heat scale from 1 (mild) to 10 (extremely hot) this pepper is a 2-3. Plant in sunny, well-drained, nutrient rich soil or containers amended with organic matter. Water well after planting; maintain 1 inch of water, once a week throughout the growing season to maintain consistent soil moisture. Feed with a slow release fertilizer, following label instructions. Mulch 2" to suppress weeds, retain moisture, and protect against extremes of soil temperature.
