Aka 'Gracilis' or 'Nana Gracilis', is an elegant, slow growing evergreen that produces a broadly upright to conical habit covered in soft, deep green, undulating, curvey, shell-like foliage (needles) with silver markings underneath. A fantastic evergreen for year-round color, texture and small spaces. Plant with spireas and panicle hydrangeas for a colorful display. Plant in well-drained, amended, acidic soil. Water well after planting; maintain 1 inch of water once a week the first year. Little pruning is needed, as this plant shapes itself nicely. You may remove dead branches any time. When necessary, prune or shear in late winter to early spring, just 2-3 inches at a time. Fertilize in early spring, mid-summer, and fall with an acidic fertilizer, according to package directions. Mulch 2 inches to suppress weeds, retain moisture, and protect against extremes of soil temperature.
