This unique perennial hibiscus or rose mallow has outstanding coppery-red, maple leaf foliage that turns a full spectrum of fall colors with veined, pale pink flowers that have a bright, red eye measuring up to 12" across. Beautiful accent combined with grasses. Heliopsis, daylilies and Agastache, or planted among other hardy hibiscus near a pond or stream. 48"h-36"w, Bloom Time July-September. Care and Maintenance; Plant in well-drained to moist, moderate to nutrient-rich soil amended with organic matter like Petitti Planting Mix. Water well after planting; and maintain 1" of water, once per week, the first year. Use Plant-tone and Iron-tone in spring or at planting; apply Osmocote in summer. Remove spent flowers to prolong blooming. Mulch 1-2" to suppress weeds and retain soil moisture. Cut down to 4" late fall. Pinch in early June to control size.
