Lycopersicon esculentum Grafting is the best way to grow some of the most delicious vareities while overcoming their challenges with slow growth or disease tendencies. Excellent fruiting varieties are grafted onto the rootstock of vigorous, disease-resistant varieties to accomplish the best of both worlds. The result is grafted tomato varieties that develop earlier and produce repeatedly, so you can enjoy that delectable, home-grown flavor more often. Paste, aka plum or pear tomatoes tend to be medium sized with an oval shape with a meaty, intense flavor. Little seeds and less juice makes these varieties easy to cook with, perfect for canning, sauces, and salsas. 'Amish Paste' is an old-fashioned Amish variety from the Lancaster, PA area. A longtime heirloom plum, it produces rather large fruit for a sauce tomato. The meaty fruits average 8-12 ounces with excellent flavor. Good in salads and great for processing. Indeterminate.
