These gorgeous, compact, mophead Hydrangeas with blue blossoms are forced into flowering so that they may be used as a showy gift or centerpiece indoors for the Easter holiday and other early spring celebrations. Unfortunately, these types of Hydrangeas are not particularly winter or cold hardy; they are meant to be enjoyed as a houseplant! Keep indoors in a bright, but cool, window and keep the soil evenly moist. Avoid hot and cold drafts. Fertilize with Osmocote spring and summer. The forced hydrangeas can stayed potted in their container and be cared for in part shade outdoors during the warmer, active growing season. They are not cold hardy, so if planted in the ground outside, they will require extra winter protection (burlap and mulch) to survive.
