Five Finger Maidenhair Fern 1 Gallon

Adiantum pedatum var. aleuticum

This U.S. native fern has a very interesting, spreading habit that distinguishes it from other classic fern varieties developing bright green fans or "finger" fronds on dark purple stems that form a waving hand in the breeze. It loves shady, moist forests and rocky cliffs. Combine with coral bells and Hosta. Plant in evenly moist, nutrient rich soil amended with organic matter like compost and planting mix. Water well after planting; maintain 1" of water, once a week the first year. Use slow release fertilizer in spring or at planting; reapply midsummer. Mulch 1-2" to suppress weeds and retain soil moisture. Excellent shade garden color and texture.
