Dracaena deremensis A striped variety of Dracaena, 'Lemon Lime' offers 12-24" long, sword-shaped leaves with bright green and yellow stripes. Like other dracaenas, the leaves are arrangged in a rosette that grows from a very thick, woody stem. This plant is easy to care for, though it will require a good deal of bright-yet-indirect light to continue producing its wonderful color. Grow in a fast-draining, well-aerated, loose potting mix. Allow the top layer of soil to dry out before watering, as soil that is too wet or too dry will cause the plant to drop leaves and develop brown tips. Fertilize monthly only during the spring and summer active growing months with weakened fertilizer (1/2 strength). These plants require very little fertilizer to thrive, and none at all during the fall and winter months. Re-pot every couple years, as these plants do enjoy being rather root-bound in small pots. Cut off any browning leaf tips with wet scissors. As with all dracaena, this plant is recognized for being an air purifier.
