Donkey Tail Spurge Quart

Donkey Tail Spurge Quart

Euphorbia myrsinites

An interesting, cold hardy succulent plant that produces fleshy, bright blue-green foliage that is arranged in a spiral up the stems. Chartreuse yellow "flower" bracts form at the tips of the stems in spring. Very drought tolerant, preferring well-drained soil in containers and rock gardens. Plant with other hardy, rock garden plants including Lewisia, hens and chicks, and Sedum. Plant in well-drained, average to poor soil. Water well after planting; maintain 1" of water, once a week the first year. Use slow release fertilizer in spring or at planting; reapply midsummer. Mulch 1-2" to suppress weeds and retain soil moisture. Deadhead to reduce self-seeding.
