Crabapple 'Profusion' 10 Gallon

Crabapple 'Profusion' 10 Gallon

Malus x Moerlandsii 'Profusion'

This beautiful flowering crabapple produces an upright, rounded canopy covered with deep pink-red buds opening to violet-red, one-and-a-half inch wide flowers in spring. In summer, it forms oval, three-inch long foliage that begins burgundy, matures to bronze-green, and finally turns orange in fall. Bright red, one-half inch wide crabapples are attractive in the landscape and to birds. 'Profusion' makes a superb and showy front landscape specimen with good disease resistance to rust, scab, leaf spots and fireblight. Plant in well-drained, nutrient-rich, amended soil. Water well after planting; maintain 1? of water once a week the first year. Prune in late winter to control size and form, or after flowering. Remove dead or damaged stems at any time. Feed at least twice during the growing season, using a slow-release fertilizer in early spring and again in mid summer, according to package instructions. Mulch 2? to suppress weeds, retain moisture, and protect against extremes of soil temperature. A regular spraying schedule to reduce insects and disease is recommended.
