The 'Southern Comfort' variety is most celebrated for the unique, variable hue of its oversized leaves. The leaves emerge cinnamon-peach colored, changing to hues of copper and amber as they mature. The plant forms a dense mound of foliage with well-lobed, cup-shaped leaves that create a dynamic sillhouette . Delicate white flowers rise up from the mound during summer. Plant in well-drained to moist, nutrient-rich soil amended with organic matter. Water well after planting; maintain 1"" of water, once a week, for the first year. Fertilize in spring. Cut back spent flower stems for a neat appearance. Mulch 1-2"" to suppress weeds and retain soil moisture. Divide in spring or fall when necessary.
