Climbing Rose 'Zephirine Drouhin' 5 Gallon

Climbing Rose 'Zephirine Drouhin' 5 Gallon

Rosa spp.
Appropriately named for their tall, climbing habit, climbing roses are best grown with support from a trellis, arbor, fence, or other structure where they can be trained vertically or horizontally. Perfect in sunny rose, cutting, and cottage gardens. Also known as Bourbon Rose, 'Zephirine Drouhin' offers some tolerance for shade while performing as a vigorous climber that displays masses of highly fragrant, semi-double, carmine-style flowers. Plant in well-drained, amended soil at least 4-5' apart. Water well after planting, and maintain 1" of water once per week for the first year. Prune lightly in spring when new growth appears, removing dry or winter damaged areas. Feed at least three times (full leaf, after first bloom, and in August) during the growing season with a slow-release fertilizer per label instructions. Mulch 2" to suppress weeds, retain moisture, and protect against the extremes of soil temperature. Spray with an anti-desiccant to protect from winter die-back, and mulch the base 4-6" in late November to protect the graft/bud union.
