This gorgeous, showy Canna variety is considered one of the best developing numerous vermillion red flowers on top of burgundy stalks over lush, chocolate to bronze, bold textured, tropical looking foliage. In general, Cannas or Canna Lilies are gorgeous annuals or tender bulbs (rhizomes) that produce tall and showy, upright flowering stalks in shades of red, orange, yellow and pink over tropical, bold textured foliage that can be shiny green, striped, or dark bronze. Although varieties vary greatly in height, flower and foliage color, they all make great focal points or thrillers in sunny garden borders or containers, attract pollinators, are repeat blooming and tolerant of moist soils. Combine with other sun loving annuals such as petunias, Lantana, SunPatiens®, and Ipomoea. Grow in sun to part shade areas, well-drained to moist soil. Feed with a slow release fertilizer following label instructions. Repeat bloomers, deadhead as needed and remove seed pods to keep a tidy appearance. Mulch 2 inches to suppress weeds, retain moisture and protect against extremes of soil temperature. After a couple fall frosts and leaves yellow, dig and let dry, store bulbs in dry peat moss, perlite, or shredded newspaper in a ventilated box in a cool, dark, frost free space for the winter. Pot up Cannas indoors approximately 4-6 weeks before the last spring frost.
