Calla Lily Yellow 'Sun Club®' 6.5 Inch

Calla Lily Yellow 'Sun Club®' 6.5 Inch

Zantedeschia spp.

Calla Lily is a tender bulb (rhizome) and annual plant that produces long stemmed, elegant spathe flowers. Foliage can be arrow shaped with white speckles, or narrow and strap-like, depending on the variety. Typically blooming in late spring and early summer, this plant is frequently used as a spring or Easter houseplant, as a summer annual, and for cut flower enjoyment. 'Sun Club®' blooms a fresh, pure lemon yellow. If planting outdoors in Northeast Ohio to be enjoyed as a summer annual, grow in sun to part shade areas in well-drained to moist soil. Feed with a slow release fertilizer like Osmocote® or Plant-tone® per label instructions. Deadhead as needed. If you'd like to try growing them yourself again next year, be sure to gently dig and lift the tubers in the fall after their leaves have yellowed and they've been exposed to a couple frosts. Let the tubers dry in the garage, then store them in dry peat moss, perlite, or shredded newspaper in a box in a cool basement for the winter. The following spring, pot up the tubers indoors approximately 4 weeks before the last spring frost. Mulch 2 inches to suppress weeds, retain moisture, and protect against extremes of soil temperature.
