Black Mondo Grass forms striking, arching clumps of deep black-purple grass-like foliage, adding dramatic contrast to gardens or containers. Low-growing and tidy, it thrives in full sun to part shade with well-drained soil. Perfect as a bold groundcover, edging, or accent in mixed plantings. Plant in well-drained, moist, nutrient-rich soil amended with organic matter like Petitti Planting Mix. Water well after planting, maintaining 1" of water, once per week, for the first year. Feed in spring or at the time of planting. Cut back as low as possible late winter/early spring. Mulch 1-2" to suppress weeds and retain soil moisture. Divide in spring when necessary.
