The Shasta Daisy family of perennials offers classic, white-petaled, sunny yellow-centered flowers in a variety of sizes, petal types, and habits. Newer varieties are bred for outstanding weather tolerance, repeat bloom performance, and general ease of maintenance. 'Birdy' offers extreme cold hardiness and continuous blooming of large, 5-inch wide, umbrella-shaped, white, feathery flowers with bright, golden centers ringed with a fringe of tiny white petals. Best grown in a sunny cottage or cutting garden, pollinator station, or perennial border. Great companions include Blanket Flower, Coneflower, Tickseed, Sedum, and Salvia. Plant in well-drained, average soil amended with organic matter like compost or planting mix. Water well after planting; maintain 1" of water, once a week the first year. Fertilize in spring and again in summer with a slow release fertilizer. Mulch 1-2" to suppress weeds and retain soil moisture. Cut or deadhead regularly to encourage new blooms on this water-wise, prolific perennial. Divide in spring or fall when necessary. Propagation prohibited
