English Lavender 'Munstead' 2 Gallon

Lavandula angustifolia An early flowering species with true lavender color and richly fragrant flowering spikes over dense, compact mounds of grey-green foliage. Considered to be the hardiest of the lavenders, this classic was introduced in 1916 and grown in abudance by Gertrude Jekyll at Munstead Wood. Combine with Coreopsis, daisies, and other herbs.

  • 16" h x 12" w bloom time June-September. Care & Maintenance; Plant in well-drained, nutrient rich soil amended with organic matter like Petitti Planting Mix. Water well after planting; maintain 1" of water, once a week the first year. Use Plant-tone and Iron-tone in spring or at planting; apply Osmocote in summer. Deadhead spent flowers for neat appearance. Mulch 1-2" to suppress weeds and retain soil moisture. Cut back hard in spring. Divide in spring when necessary.
