Heuchera spp. This coral bell is a staple in any garden or container being one of the first dark leaf varieties and voted Perennial Plant of 1991. Mounding, semi-evergreen, maple leaf like foliage changes from bronze to purple to maroon while white bells hover above on 24" tall stems. Good in any sun exposure; best in part shade with bleeding hearts, ferns and crainesbills. 12-24"h 12-18"w bloom Time April-June. Care & Maintenance; Plant in well-drained to moist, nutrient rich soil amended with organic matter like Petitti Planting Mix. Water well after planting; maintain 1" of water, once a week the first year. Use Plant-tone and Iron-tone in spring or at planting; apply Osmocote in summer. Cut back spent flower stems for a neat appearance. Mulch 1-2" to suppress weeds and retain soil moisture. Divide in spring or fall when necessary.
