Coral Bells 'Frosted Velvet' 2 Gallon

Coral Bells 'Frosted Velvet' 2 Gallon

Heuchera hybrida

Coral Bells, or Alum Root, are truly eye-catching foliage plants, and newer varieties have been improved by cross breeding with the native H. villosa to make them very cold hardy, heat and humidity resistant, tolerant of various soil conditions, and animal browsing. Coral Bell's mounded habit and colorful, textured, semi-evergreen foliage is stunning for multiple seasons of interest. Its tall bloomscapes are attractive to pollinators and make long lasting cut flowers that perform well in garden beds and containers. The 'Frosted Velvet' variety features scalloped foliage that changes from shades of pink-purple maturing to a silvery plum purple with deep purple veins that commands attention throughout the growing season. Then, light pink bell-like flowers rise on 30 inch tall stems in late spring to early summer. Combine with Astilbe, Bleeding Hearts, Garden Phlox, and Brunnera. Plant in well-drained to moist, nutrient-rich soil amended with organic matter. Water well after planting; maintain 1" of water, once a week, for the first year. Fertilize in spring and again midsummer. Cut back spent flower stems for a neat appearance. Mulch 1-2" to suppress weeds and retain soil moisture. Divide in spring or fall when necessary.
